Buy a Bike

There is nothing like getting a good deal on a motorcycle, especially if it’s your first.  There’s a saying that it’s not if you drop your bike, but when so it’s probably better to grab something a little less pricey that you can get comfortable learning on. It would be a good thing if you followed your instincts (and our advice) and didn’t spend 14K on a shiny new Yamaha R1 and learned on a USED BIKE!

We’ve decided to try out a few sites that promise a good deal on an auction bike as well as supply all sorts links and resources to obtain the motorcycle of your dreams.

  • Sheriff Auctions - Sheriff Auctions is a members only website containing some of the best sources for cheap bikes; government auctions, local auctions and seized property auctions, you name it, they’ve got it. For $29.99 Sheriff Auctions claims to be able to save you big bucks on your next motorcycle… Seems like a fair enough deal so we ordered it. See what we thought about Sheriff Auctions!
  • Car-Auction.com - Our review of Car-Auction.com, yes they do have Motorcycle auctions, is coming soon!

You don’t have to go out and buy a brand new bike. Whether you’re learning or a seasoned pro, it pays to shop used. And remember it’s not if you’re going to drop your motorcycle but when so get something cheap until you get your bearings. Don’t worry when you do put it down, yes you will look like a tool but it happens to the best of us. I was in a parking garage with my friend and tried to show off a bit by accelerating out of the garage. I tried a little too hard and the back tire lost grip on the smooth pavement and came out from under me. Yes, I looked like a moron but I learned a valuable lesson, frame sliders and good riding boots are KEY!!
